What Is Network Marketing And Is It Legit?

By Ken Acree

Network Marketing is the great savior of the free enterprise system, or a complete scam, depending on whom you ask. How could one style of marketing receive such differing reviews across the spectrum? We will explore the details about MLM, and decide once and for all if this is a legitimate form of business or one that you should avoid.

What is Network Marketing exactly? It is not nearly as complex as some make it out to be. MLM is a means of distributing product through a network of associates. Direct Sales companies choose to pay affiliates commissions instead of purchasing advertising from TV and newspapers.

A great deal of additional traditional company have elements of direct sales. For example, have you ever bought an insurance plan from a neighborhood representative? He likely got a large compensation for that sale. Furthermore, he likely had a manager and a VP who shared some part of the sales proceeds.

Multi Level Marketing businesses function in much the same fashion. A front line partner makes a sale. Payments are after that divided in some form between the marketing Rep, and several levels of various other Distributors above him/her. Thus the term "multi level."

Network Marketing is an effective means of product distribution for a number of reasons. For one thing, word of mouth advertising is particularly powerful. What could be better than a review from a friend that you know, like, and trust?

Another strong point is that the multi tiered pay structure encourages recruitment and downline growth. When sales reps are paid only on their own sales, they can become quite territorial. A company may be missing sales because a competitive salesperson does his best to repress competition. However, give that same Rep the opportunity to profit from his own team, and he/she will be excited about providing referrals.

MLM has gotten a bum rap through the years. A portion of it has been entitled to, but much is a misconception. The poor track record has actually been due to scam artists taking advantage of innocent sufferers. While this is unfavorable, the honest truth is that scams exists in every profession. It is up to each individual to conduct due diligence and choose possibilities carefully.

What is Network Marketing? It's the best way for an average person to make an extraordinary income, if they will work hard and help others. Scams do exist, but the good in the MLM profession far outweighs the bad.
